Projects and workspaces

Projects play a central role in Total Project Management. Everything you do is directly related to a project and most features are not accessible if you do not have a project or a project selected as workspace. So the first thing you probably want to do after installing Total Project Management is to create a project. Once you have created a project, or once you are a member of a project, you can select it as your current workspace. A workspace defines your current focus or area of activity, meaning that everything you do right now will be associated with the project you have selected.  For example, tasks that you create are automatically connected to the workspace you have selected. And also you will only see tasks of the workspace you have selected. Your current workspace is reflected by the breadcrumbs and the workspace select-list on top of the page.

The global view

Additionally to the workspace view, there is also a global view. The global view is activated by not having a workspace selected. This view allows you to see information about all your projects in summary. However this does not allow you to add or edit information in most cases. For that you'll have to switch back to the desired project view.

Access permission system

The permission system is rather complex but it is critical that you understand at least the basic concept. You can manage user permissions from two perspectives: The global permissions and the project permissions. Global permissions are the bare minimum permissions a user can have and are active at all times. You can extend the user permissions on a per-project basis.
